BCI/Eurobib is well-aware of the American public's concern for the environment and harmful wastes generated by factories...Below is an except from a recent BCI/Eurobib memo detailing some of their major efforts to be a more responsible furniture manufacturing company.
ENERGY
In recent years, we have reduced our consumption of gas and electricity by investing in installations, machines and lighting systems that use less energy. Our work to minimize energy consumption is an ongoing process, to which we give high priority in our everyday operations.
PACKAGING
We use wooden crates, plastic, cardboard and EuroPallets in our packaging process, and we reuse the pallets and crates as far as possible. Over the past few years, we have altered our packaging so that today, we primarily use environmentally friendly plastic foil instead of cardboard. We install the majority of the items we deliver ourselves, which helps us to ensure that the packaging is disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
WASTE
As far as possible, we are looking to cut the volumes we generate by introducing efficient processes that protect the environment and, at the same time, reduce the amount of material we use.
In addition, we sort all the refuse generated by the company at source to ensure that as much as possible is recycled, while the rest is sent for destruction or incineration.
WOOD
We use wood for a large proportion of our products. In itself, wood is a natural product that does not generate much environmental impact. In addition, we make sure that the wood we use in our production processes is delivered exclusively by suppliers who can document that it comes from sustainable forests. In fact, we demand that t he wood we receive lives up to FSC certification or a corresponding standard.
